A wooden frame was painted green and stamped with
MW720-C
"Sunburst. Lg." and
MW723-B "Return symbol, Lg." Squiggly
lines are painted asymmetrically in four
areas as shown. Ordinary wire mesh screen is secured on
the back of the frame. This makes a great
holder for earrings. Made by Lee Ann Atencio.
MC1177-S "Navajo border" is stamped on light blue Sculpey II
clay and bordered with blue and tan clay to form the
pendant, then baked. Metal charms are added
for embellishment on the pendant and the earrings. Set
made by Margaret Wiggin.
JA516-C "Tlingit owl, Sm." (a discontinued stamp which is still
available, but not shown in the current catalog) is
stamped on black Sculpey II clay and baked.
The pieces are pained with Super Copper Lumiere paint and
findings and beads attached. Set made
by Margaret Wiggin.
JA446-H "Mimbreno jack rabbit #1" is stamped into Sculpey III clay
and a pebble stamp is stamped to give the textured
background. Turquoise and green acrylic paint
is painted over the entire pendant and the excess is wiped
off leaving color in the lower levels. A
hole is pressed into the top and the clay is baked.
Leather lacing is tied to the pendant and a bead
is added. Pendant is by Susan Frank.
Necklace was made using 859-H "Navajo blanket #1",
860-H "Navajo
blanket #7" and
861-H "Navajo blanket #8". The images are
stamped into Ultra Thick Embossing
Enamel powder using a sprinkling of gold, silver, copper
and interference blue UTEE. Copper
metallic "ribbon" trims the pieces which are corrugated
cardboard tiles. Necklace by Jackie Girard.
Domino preparation:
Start with a white domino, lightly sand until the sheen is
gone. Add Gesso (white) to the top and
sides. When dry, apply color with chalks. Colors used
were Oranges, yellows in the middle area,
dark brown and black for the border.
JA458-G "Mimbreno dancer" is
stamped on the domino
with black Brilliance ink. On the sides of
the domino stamp words like "Apache" and "Mimbres" using
alphabet stamps. On the ends, stamp
"AND". Heat set the words and apply Crystal Lacquer to
the top and sides. It takes several hours
to lacquer the top and all the sides. A hole can be
drilled in the domino before preparing it to be
stamped. They can also be sealed with Krylon spray,
Future Floor Finish or Diamond Glaze. Art by Lee Ann Atencio.
Domino
preparation:
Start with a white domino, lightly sand until the sheen is
gone. Add Gesso (white) to the top and sides.
When dry, paint with a stipple brush using Lumiere paints
(colors metallic olive green 562, Sunset Gold
554 and Metallic Russet 566).
JA479-F "Kokopelli",
JA470-G "Mimbreno deer hunter",
JA513-F
"Tlingit owl",
JA407-F "Mimbreno swallows" were stamped
onto white tissue paper with black Brilliance
ink. Using a soft brush, PPA was applied on the domino
and Kokopelli was applied, then bits/pieces
cut out of these stamps were applied. Heat set the images
before applying another coat of PPA over the
tissue. On the sides of the domino stamp words like
"Apache" and "Mimbres" using alphabet stamps.
On the ends, stamp "AND". Heat set the words and apply
Crystal Lacquer. Any color can be used;
however green was used in this sample. It takes several
hours to lacquer the top and all the sides. The
sample shown here is a minibus gift box and the domino was
used for the main focus on the top of the
box. Gift box by Lee Ann Atencio.
ES1186-K "Eskimo child" is stamped with black Crafter's ink and heat
set on a clean round glass shape (available at local craft
stores) making sure to heat it until no wet ink can
be seen and being careful while handling the glass as it is HOT. Gallery
Glass was colored on the side opposite where it was
stamped. It was turned occasionally to be able to see where to add more Gallery
Glass. When dry, a thin layer of Perm Enamel (found in
the glass paints sections) was added to the back.
Next, tiny clear glass beads were added and it was left to dry. In order to
ensure that the beads won't come off, another layer
of Perm Enamel was applied and left to dry. On the front, a line of Perm
Enamel was painted along the edge, beads added and
it was left to dry. A thin coat of Perm Enamel was added
to the entire front to protect the stamped ink from being
scratched off. Sun catcher by Wendy Kerr.
